Betty Ann Dotson and Frances Barton Endowment of the Barren County Public Library Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library is privileged to be the recipient of a lasting gift to the community, the Betty Ann Dotson and Frances Barton Endowment of the Barren County Public Library. This tribute was established by Robert and Donna Dotson to honor the memory of both their mother and grandmother, Betty Ann Dotson and Frances Barton, who instilled in them a love of learning and the importance of charitable giving. Endowment earnings may be used fir additions to collections of either books or periodicals, for computer and technology needs, and community outreach programs. The endowment may also be used for expansions to or renovations of the Barren County Public Library or to assist in supporting the construction of a new library. The Board of Trustees of the Barren County Public Library has the responsibility for the investment and management of the funds consistent with prudent business practices. The endowment is a separate and distinct fund within the Barren County Public Library. Additional gifts may be made by both family and community members by designating funds to the Betty Ann Dotson and Frances Barton Endowment.

Barren County Public Library Development Fund The Barren County Public Library Development Fund has been designated to receive all monies that are not given for specified purposes. The Library Board of Trustees recognize the quality of library that is currently available, but have a vision of the future growth of this county which will require a larger building. Even with our recent acquisition of a beautiful facility, it does not meet Kentucky Department for Libraries recommended square footage for our population. As appointed board members, it is prudent to move toward offering a library that meets the recommended standards. It is also reasonable to offer people an opportunity to share in this vision on a small or large scale, by making contributions to the library. As an institution that serves as a shared resource for information, entertainment, enrichment and technology, it increases the quality of life for all members of the community. Our goal is to better serve Glasgow / Barren County and to prepare for future population growth. A gift to the library serves as a memorial for a loved one or friend creating a lasting tribute that benefits present and future generations. |
